Til' Death Do We pART II
My creations work as a visual griot narrating the culture, resilience, spirituality, and mysticism of the ancestors. My creative process involves careful study of the history and connections between African Indigenous people, Indigenous people of the Americas, and people of the African diaspora. I use my findings of images, documents, conversations, rituals, traditions, music, artifacts, objects, and more to conceptualize my work. Through this I create multimedia works meant to celebrate and tell the stories of these findings, and challenge the thoughts and evoke emotions in my viewers. My multidisciplinary practice involves the process of photomontage along with manipulating layers of paint, organic materials, sculptures, and fabric to create 3 dimensional collage pieces.
